Chinese BBQ sauce for cooking vegan

Adapted from a Sainsbury’s kids cookbook I was bought 1984. A store cupboard saviour can be used on meat as well as the preferred vegan stuff I like to use it on frozen, thawed and squeezed tofu which I then bake for 30 min gas mark 6 in a large glass dish flip over and bake for a further 20mins at gas mark 5 yum yum.  ps the kid cookbook did not included the wine surprised? nah

175ml white wine

4 tablespoons tomato ketchup

2 tablespoons sunflower or vegetable oil

2 tablespoons dark soy sauce

½ teaspoon Chinese 5 spice

1 teaspoon brown sugar

2 teaspoons maple syrup/ agave/ freedom fruit syrup/ or honey

1 teaspoon ground ginger

4 cloves garlic minced

Pinch chilli

 Mix together in a large freezer bag or large glass dish if you are baking tofu whisk to incorporate and cook whatever you want in it I like to cook Tofu in this mix. I then serve with brown rice steamed broccoli and griddled greens.
